An 11-year-old pillion rider was killed in a collision with a taxi in Bangsar yesterday. The girl, Athierah Batricesya, was on the bike with her brother, 18, on Jalan Maarof when the incident took place near the Jalan Tanduk junction.

The brother escaped with minor injuries, while the taxi driver did not sustain any injuries.
Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) chief ACP Zulkefly Yahya said that the siblings fell on the road due to the impact from the collision.
While the brother suffered some bruises to his left leg, Athierah suffered a severe head injury besides wounds to her legs and body. Her body was sent to Kuala Lumpur Hospital for a post-mortem.
Careless accidents continue to happen, and we need to be more responsible and vigilant on the roads.
