There are people you meet who are really easy for you to make them happy. Seriously—you can just belanja makan or help them carry groceries and they’ll already be pleased! Even something as small as a good joke is enough.

But then, there are also people you find really hard to please. You try to avoid them, because it’s stressful, but they could be working with you in the same office or living with you in the same house.

Check ‘em out, and let us know if any of these feel relatable:

#1 Customers at a packed restaurant

We Malaysians have a habit of bearing long queues to get into popular restaurants—especially those that have been rated highly on Google/Yelp.

But for some people, being in a crowded restaurant would cause them to be more agitated and impatient, especially when they’re waiting for their turn to be served. Since they’ve been made to wait for a long time, they’ll also be extra picky. In fact, if the food is unsatisfactory, they might send it back to the kitchen or have a word with the chef. Yikes!

#2 Bosses one generation older than you

It’s universally acknowledged that it’s difficult for baby boomer bosses and millennial employees to get along. One thinks the other should work 24/7, the other thinks that baby boomers keep them around so that someone else figures out techy things 😂. Kidding!

But you’ve gotta admit that both of them have different works styles, and when the older generation is your boss, it’s difficult to please them with… anything (unless you managed to somehow organise their emails 😜).

#3 Narcissistic girlfriends/boyfriends

Let’s be real. If your partner thinks highly of themselves, it’s going to be hard for you to please them. Confirm your gifts will have to be super expensive—they won’t even pandang non-branded items. It’s Prada and Ralph Lauren all the way!

And when it comes to trips, they’ll be expecting European vacations, not your usual Southeast Asian destinations.

Try not to go broke while being in this relationship, yeah? 😅

#4 Asian mothers-in-law

… and when you’ve found someone you want to marry, it’s time for you to impress their mother—which is another level altogether.

You’ve dealt with your mother when it comes to cooking, but now your mother-in-law will want you to be able to take care of their son/daughter as well as they did. That means being able to do housework just as well as they do, including cooking, repairing household items, and taking care of your kids.

While Asian mothers-in-law are hard to please, it’s still possible to build a good relationship with them, and you should, because you’re one family now!
