5 Reasons Why We Love The “Thor” Movie Franchise

Time to catch up on “Thor” and “Thor: The Dark World” before “Thor: Ragnarok” hits!

It’s been almost a decade since the release of the first Marvel Cinematic Universe movie by Marvel Studios. Since then the movies have kept rolling out year after year, and more and more superheroes have gotten their share of the silver screen.

While it’s difficult to pick one that we like the most – because they’re all so good – Thor is definitely way up there on our list, and here’s why…

#1 The person that is the superhero

It’s hard to imagine Thor being second to any other superhero in the Marvel Universe. But, he does lack one thing: a secret identity. Thor is just always Thor.

That being said though, who is complaining about seeing more of the beautiful specimen of a human being that is Chris Hemsworth? Nobody, that’s who. Good job with the casting Marvel!

#2 The fantasy

Anyone who has ever read up on Norse mythology will tell you that it contains a deep and rich lore filled with many interesting characters and realms. But as interesting as those tales are, they pale in comparison with the fantasy created by the Thor cinematic franchise.

Whether in his own movie or as part of The Avengers, seeing the God of Thunder battling aliens, androids, and the Trickster God is super fun.

#3 The baddie…for once

Nobody really walks into a movie thinking they’ll like the baddie. That however, is not the case for the Thor movies.

Loki’s cunning and wit coupled with Hiddleston’s performance makes for a brilliant villain that viewers and reviewers love. In his review of 2013’s Thor: The Dark World, Michael O’Sullivan from the Washington Post said: “Hiddleston steals the show here, making wickedness and treachery look a heck of a lot more fun than virtue.”

#4 The much-like-real-life struggle to the top

Unlike Captain America or Iron Man who continue to enjoy their ‘top dog’ position, Thor’s cinematic life is a rollercoaster ride of downs, ups, and then down again – much like real life.

Anybody remember the King Arthur and Excalibur reference from the first movie where Thor tried to pull Mjolnir out from the ground? After all that, we see his trusty hammer being destroyed in the trailer for the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok with Thor being captured and forced to participate in a gladiator-style fight for survival.

#5 The unlikely pairing

You’d think that with superhuman strength and the ability to call upon lightning that Thor wouldn’t need friends. But throughout the Thor movie franchise, you actually see that Thor has great friends that are willing to fight by his side. They are Lady Sif, Fandral, Volstagg, and Hogun.

As if having god warriors as friends isn’t enough, Thor also has a good friend from work: Bruce Banner, also known as the Hulk. What an unlikely but absolutely exciting pairing.

If you can’t yet tell from the way we gush about the Thor movies then let us assure you that Thor is indeed one of our most loved superhero and we can’t wait till Thor: Ragnarok hits cinemas on the 26th of October 2017.
