Your wedding day probably ranks way up there in your list of the most important days in your life. After all, it’s the day that you declare your commitment to a lifetime as husband and wife in the presence of the people that matter to you the most.
But, as many of you—whether you’re getting married or not—already know, that one beautiful day is the result of many, many stressful days and sleepless nights. There are many things about planning a wedding that can really get your stress levels up, but we’re here to help you out. Here are five things that you’ll wish somebody told you before your wedding. You’re welcome…
#1 Nobody cares about your weight

Let’s be honest. Everybody wants to look skinny for their wedding day. But what you probably don’t know is that, nobody cares about your weight. You’re in the presence of family and friends that love and accept you for everything that you are, and you’ll look beautiful (or handsome) on this special day in their eyes. So, stop depriving yourself of food!
#2 Give your invitations some of your precious time

Choose a template, edit the text, font, and colours, and send it off to the printers for them to work their magic. Preparing your invitations may sound like a trivial task in a sea of big things to check off your to-do list, but keep in mind that mistakes can happen. And if it’s not caught before your invitations are printed, then it’s going to be a costly and time-consuming mistake to rectify.
#3 Don’t let your parents or relatives dictate your wedding

Highly controversial, and very difficult to do, but your wedding day is a special occasion that only happens once (hopefully), so make sure it’s everything you envisioned it to be. Take the wants of your parents into consideration, and try your best to accommodate these requests. But remember, it’s YOUR day.
#4 Don’t sweat the (actual) small stuff

Look, we get it. You want to stick to wedding traditions as much as possible, but to be honest, wedding favours (aka door gifts) aren’t something that you should be stressing over. The people are there to watch you and your significant joined in matrimony, not to take home gifts. Plus, some people leave it behind anyway.
If you absolutely want your guests to go home with something to remember the day, get a friend to take instant photographs of you with them. That makes for a better memory than any wedding favour.
#5 Don’t forget about the weather

Outdoor weddings are great, but bad weather can quickly ruin the mood and atmosphere—not to mention making your guests wet and late. So, when choosing a date and venue for your wedding, make sure to consult the weather forecast first.
