To curb road fatalities ahead of this year’s Chinese New Year celebrations, operation Ops Selamat 14 will be conducted from January 29 onwards.
According to the Deputy Inspector General, Tan Sri Noor Rashid Ibrahim, about 226 road fatalities were reported last year over the Chinese New Year period.
Statisticsshowed a sharp increase from 255,392 summons in 2017 to 385,547 summons in 2018.
70% of the summonses were issued for these 6 offences and this time, the police will be monitoring them heavily.
Here’s what the 6 offences are:

#5 Failure to adhere to traffic lights

If you’re caught committing any of these offenses, a maximum fine of RM300 will be slapped without a second consideration.
Meanwhile the police will be monitoring traffic flow along all major roads and highways including these two critical paths:
- Kilometers 287 to Kilometer 289.95 North-South Expressway at Simpang Pulai -Gopeng near Simpang Pulai Stop.
- Kilometer 367.3 North-South Expressway north from Slim River to Sungkai.
