Getting up in the morning can be a drag, but did you know that how you start your day affects the rest of your day?
Fix your mornings by instilling these seven habits. It’ll change how you feel throughout the day for the better!
#1 Let natural light into your room
This is the easiest, most basic step to start the day. Get out of bed, and just draw the curtains open. Sunlight boosts your mood and helps you feel more motivated to do your tasks. It also controls the body’s Circadian system.
#2 Do light exercises
Something as simple as doing jumping jacks and even 15 to 20 minutes of walking can boost endorphins and other chemicals that can improve your mood, help your body and make you feel good.
#3 Stop hitting that snooze button
This is more of a don’t, but you’ve got to stop hitting that snooze button! According to sleep expert Adam Tishman, when you do this, you’re tricking your body into thinking it’s going back to sleep.

#4 Take some time to stretch
You notice how cats start stretching their limbs when they wake up? We should be doing the same thing! The minimum you can do is spread your arms and legs, making your body as long as possible.
Stretching in the morning will decrease stress and improve blood flow, as the movements will activate your parasympathetic nervous system, which is in charge of regulating your body’s ability to recover, rest and digest.
#5 Take a cold shower
A cold shower not only wakes you up, but gives you a natural dose of energy to get through the day. Cold showers also ease stress by helping antioxidants perform at optimum levels. Bonus: you get to improve your hair and skin.
#6 Plan your day
Improve your mood and productivity by knowing what your day will be like. After you’ve gotten out of bed and washed up, take the time to think on your plans and set goals for yourself. You’ll be surprised at how many useful activities you’ll be able to slot in!
