#1 Springtime Serenades

The Malaysian Philharmonic Youth Orchestra (MYPO) along with conductor Naohisa Furusawa serenades you with Dvořák’s “String Serenade”, the most popular serenade in the Romantic string orchestral repertoire that incorporates vigorous Czech folk dance rhythms followed by “Serenade for Winds” by Richard Strauss.

#2 Cirque De La Symphonie

Made up of veterans from exceptional cirque programs throughout the world, Cirque de la Symphonie brings you the magic of cirque with adaptations of artistic performances widely seen in theaters and arena everywhere. Classical masterpieces and popular contemporary music accompany each expertly choreographed performance.

#3 Let’s Build A Band

Percussionist and presenter Kevin Hathway he teaches the audience how to build a band by enlisting the aid of Ravel’s “Bolero”, Leroy Anderson’s “Fiddle-Fiddle”, Hans Zimmer’s “Pirates of the Caribbean”, Offenbach’s “CanCan”, Berlioz’s “Symphonie Fantastique”, and Nigel Hess’ “Ladies in Lavender”.

#4 Heavenly Mahler

Maestro Roberto Abbado alongside rising American soprano Lauren Snouffer take the audience to heavenly heights in the Heavenly Mahler with Mahler’s “Fourth Symphony”, Barber’s “Knoxville: Summer of 1915”, and Wagner’s amorous “Tannhäuser Overture”.

#5 Music From Anime

Close the month of May with soothing tunes as conductor Naohisa Furusawa returns to conduct this year’s MPO anime concert featuring music from various productions including “Symphonic Variation Merry-Go-Round” and “Cave of Mind” from Howl’s Moving Castle¸ “Kimi Wo Nosete” from Laputa: The Flying Island and “Sanpo” from My Neighbour Totoro.

#6 Maximus Musicus Visits The Orchestra

#7 Brilliant Bruch, Bold Bruckner

June marks a great month for music as Grammy-award winner Joshua Bell returns to grace the audience with Max Bruch’s “Violin Concerto No 1”. Then, be awed by conductor Mark Wigglesworth’s artistic flair as he delivers an interpretation of Bruckner’s bold, majestic, and lyrical “Seventh Symphony”.

#8 An Evening With MYPO

What better way to end this list than with a spectacular performance by Malaysia’s top young and talented orchestral musicians, right? The Malaysian Philharmonic Youth Orchestra brings its 10th anniversary festivities to a closure with a great symphonic music at Dewan Filharmonik PETRONAS on the 10th of June.
