9 Simple Things You Can Do To Escape Your Boring Everyday Routine

It’s easy to fall into the trap of dull routines when you’re working a nine-to-five job, and weekends are spent lazing around or catching up on sleep. You deserve more than that, though!

Here are easy ways that’ll help you break out of your everyday routine:

#1 Take a hiatus from social media

Social media is taking over our lives; we wake up in the morning and immediately check our Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram feeds. We’re stuck in traffic and we take that chance to find out what other people are doing.

It’s time to put that phone down and replace it with other activities. Do that chore you’ve been putting off for the longest time, spend more time with your loved ones—and actually pay attention to what they say, or just hit the park for some people-watching.

#2 Keep off caffeine for a day

Do you really see caffeine as a fuel to keep yourself awake? Well, your body is stronger than you think! Stay energised throughout the day without caffeine (and yes this includes tea!). Substitute them with fruits, vegetable snacks, and keep yourself moving.

#3 Ditch your music playlist and listen to something new

Spotify and YouTube tend to give you recommendations based on what you’ve listened before. Ignore them and try out new genres of music you’ve never heard before! If you’re a pop fan, why not try out rock or hip-hop songs—and vice versa!

#4 Spend a day on your own

So you’re the type to always hang out with your friends. Not a bad thing, but you do realise you always have to compromise on when and where to meet them. Sometimes you don’t even like the restaurant that they want to eat at!

Allocate a day for me-time. Go to places you’ve always wanted to try, and take your time exploring. You’ll realise that as much as it’s fun to spend time with friends, it’s also a pleasure to be on your own at your own pace!

#5 Be a tourist and go on a mini adventure

No, we’re not saying you should buy a flight ticket and travel to another country. There are small adventures you can have right here in Malaysia! Take a day trip to another state and try out delicious restaurants or visit museums and historical spots.

#6 Rearrange the furniture in your bedroom

We spend a lot of time in our bedroom. But you don’t have to keep waking up facing your wall forever, and your desk doesn’t always have to face the window. Move your furniture around or buy items like fairy lights or a new rug that could level up your décor skills. You’ll feel more refreshed and get a new perspective.

#7 If you can’t dance, sign up for a dance class

You know you’ve got some moves, you just need to let it out! There are many types of dancing classes to take on; tango, ballet, ballroom, or even tap dance. You’ll get to meet new people, and if your class is after work, it’ll give you something to look forward to!

#8 Dine at a new restaurant once every week

If you’re a foodie, or want to be one, then make time to try out somewhere new every week. You’re spoiled for choices when you’re a Malaysian, and you can even get your friends to join in the fun too.

#9 Test drive your dream car

You don’t need to dream about it anymore—turn that fantasy into reality! You can consider test driving the Renault Captur or Koleos—and you know what’s even better? You can get prizes for it! When you test drive any Renault cars at their outlets from now until 31 December, you stand a chance of winning the iPhone XS, petrol cards, and more!

The Captur

The Renault Captur is Europe’s best-selling crossover, with exciting features such as a powerful turbo engine and excellent fuel-efficiency.
