Most of us know that pandas’ legendary laziness is a whole mood. Sometimes, just looking at them makes us want to take a break, although we haven’t done anything since the morning.
Well, they’re just as slow when it comes to mating. So when a baby panda is born, it almost always calls for a celebration… and an article!

22-year-old panda, Mei Xiang gave birth at the National Zoo in Washington, DC. The staff were all gladly surprised, considering her age and the fact that she’d had several failed pregnancies in the past.

While Mei Xiang and the father of the new cub, Tian Tian have already parented three other cubs, the Zoo's director, Steve Monfort said that they just wanted to give her one more opportunity to contribute to their species survival.
Although they’re no longer considered endangered, they’re still a vulnerable species (given their laziness). The National Zoo celebrated the little champion’s arrival on Twitter with some photos!
The adorable baby cub doesn’t have a name yet as of now, but you can keep an eye on their Twitter for updates!
Congratulations Mei Xiang and Tian Tian!
