One of the clips that was shared on social media (believed to be on TikTok) showed a few people playing foosball and hitting live frogs with a ball. Another video showed about 15 frogs inside a cardboard box. They came with captions like “Merry Christmas”, “Last Frog” and “Thanks for the 100 frogs”.
Sources also alleged that one of the teenagers involved in the incident is already under investigation for trespassing into the white rhino enclosure at the Singapore Zoo.
Upon probing, the teenager said that the frogs were actually meant to be fed to the fishes.
“We didn’t know how to kill the frog as quickly as possible, and my friend thought that shooting it with the ball might be effective, so we did that”, he said.
No further details have been disclosed. However, AVS highlighted that all forms of animal cruelty will be taken seriously and any form of evidence (be it photos or videos) would really help with the investigation.
Also, information shared with them will be kept confidential at all times.
While it’s fun to fool around in the name of ‘creating content’, let’s learn to co-exist and not hurt another life.
