We’ve read several ‘crazy’ wedding stories from India like, bride calling off her wedding because the groom’s friends forced her to dance, bride who married a guest after the groom fled etc. But no matter how many stories we read, they never fail to amaze us each time.

Recently, a bride did a classic Bollywood movie move by walking off the stage just before getting married… because her fiance couldn’t recite the 2-times table.

The bride from Uttar Pradesh decided to ask her soon-to-be husband the multiplication table right before exchanging garlands. She said that she was suspicious about the groom’s educational qualifications and as it was an arranged marriage, we’re guessing she didn’t have enough time to get to know him personally.

She added that she couldn’t marry someone who didn’t know the basics of Mathematics. Her cousin highlighted that the groom’s family had kept them in the dark about his education. “They had cheated us”, she said while proudly standing by the bride’s decision to call off the wedding.

No police case was lodged and both parties came to an agreement. Better late than never, though. Good for her.

What do you think about this story? What’s a red flag that you can never meet someone in the middle with?
