Bride Calls Off Wedding ‘Coz Groom Couldn’t Read Without Glasses!

First time we’re hearing this...

We’ve heard a few very bizarre wedding stories from India... Remember the time a bride called off her wedding when the groom couldn’t recite the 2-times table? Or the one where the groom’s family ended up at the wrong address? Or… the one we recently posted about a groom calling off his wedding as there was no mutton in the menu?

Yeah, let’s add one more to the list. A bride apparently ended things when she learnt that her soon-to-be husband couldn’t read without his glasses on.

Archana from Uttar Pradesh, India was matched with Shivam and they were told that the groom was well-educated. When the procession came to the house on their wedding day, the groom was seen wearing spectacles the whole time.

Archana’s family then suspected that the guy had poor eyesight, which led her to asking him to read a Hindi newspaper without his glasses. He was not allegedly illiterate, but he failed to read the paper (maybe because he really couldn’t see).

We guess no one was expecting the Bollywood turn of events. The bride refused to marry him and demanded that the groom’s side returned all expenses incurred. A police report was made when Shivam’s family refused to comply.

Well, to each their own… What’s a shallow reason you wouldn’t date or marry someone?
