You go to a tourist spot, you enjoy the view, you come back, right? Why do you have to steal things from there?
We do not under-sand.
This French tourist faced the music after being caught at the airport for stealing more than four pounds of sand from the beach of Sardinia in his luggage.

He has been ordered to pay a fine of 1,200 dollars as the Italian island’s idyllic white sand is protected. Tourists can even face jail time for stealing the sand but lucky for him, he got away with just a fine.
A spokesperson for the island’s Forest Rangers said that the bottles of sand were confiscated and they usually have a number of bottles accumulated by the end of every year. Wow.
A regional law was introduced back in 2017, which made it illegal to take sand from Sardinia’s beaches because the incidents were becoming frequent. Sources said that the sand was also seen being sold on websites as souvenirs.
The beautifully coloured sand makes it easy for people to want to keep it for themselves, but let this serve as a reminder to everyone out there, to not take what’s not yours. Let’s just appreciate nature just where it is and just the way it is.
