Tupperware and wooden spoons; deprive your Asian mom of these two things and watch yourself slowly being disowned.

There comes a point of realization in every relationship where you start seeing the truth, and we guess, it’s that time now for your mom: that wooden spoons have a lot of bacteria in them.

An Aussie mom shared a trick on Facebook, after learning from a celebrity chef on how to deep-clean a wooden spoon and the results were a little…nasty.

Simply by putting the spoon in boiling water, you can clean the spoon and see how much oil and grime was stuck inside the wood, even though you wash it everyday after use.

The mom, who got the tip from food guru Matt Preston, said that her wooden spoon was going to the bin right away.

While hundreds of moms gathered to share the same results, one suggested that laying the spoon out in the sun works ‘wonders for bacteria’. Meanwhile, some simply said this shouldn’t be fussed about because ‘no one has been sick from it’.

Perhaps, we can switch to a silicone spatula but the question is… are our mothers ready to give up on their wooden spoons?
