Researchers have found that your cats can hear just fine… but they’re probably just IGNORING you!

The study found that cats are indeed able to distinguish their names from other random sounds.
The researchers experimented by using nouns with roughly the same accent and length as the cat’s name and had both the cat’s owner and a stranger record them.
The audio was then played to the pets with 15-second intervals between each sound and the cat’s name came last.
The disappointing news is that regardless of who was speaking, most of the cats responded in some way when their names were mentioned.

They either moved their heads or perk their ears up when they heard their names. GOTCHA!
This is the first experimental evidence showing cats’ ability to understand human verbal utterances. The researchers also tested it on cats who live in cat cafés but they found out the cats couldn’t distinguish between their own names versus that of other cats. However, they still could distinguish names from other nouns.
Well, that’s good enough. At least, we know for a fact that they do know their names!
Does you cat ignore your call for a hang out as well?
There, there…
