Are you stuck trying to think of more activities your toddlers can do and at the same time want to cut down their screen time on the TV or tablet?

Look no further! We’ve compiled a list of brain games that are easy to make and fun for toddlers aged two to five years old to play. Try them out:

#1 Matching Game

A simple matching game is all it takes to boost your child’s memory, strengthen their critical thinking and teach them problem-solving skills.

All you need:

  • Coloured sugar paper
  • Markers
  • Scissors

Instructions:

  1. Cut the sugar paper into squares and draw different shapes onto them. Make sure that each shape comes as a pair.
  2. Then, scatter the squares on the floor/desk, and get your child to match the squares with their partners! Besides shapes, you can also draw animals and objects.

#2 Homemade Playdough

Playing with playdough allows you to nurture your child’s creativity by letting them create different types of shapes. Did you know that you can make your own playdough at home? It’s super easy, and would cost even less than a buying playdough at the toy store.

All you need:

  • 2 cups of flour
  • ¾ cup of salt
  • 4 teaspoons of cream of tartar
  • 2 cups of lukewarm water
  • 2 tablespoons of vegetable/coconut oil
  • Food colouring
  • Mini bags

Got all the items? Now watch the video below for the instructions:

#3 The Colour-Changing Chameleon

Don’t worry, your child isn’t going anywhere near a real chameleon. This activity will let them familiarise with colours and cultivate their inner artist!

All you need:

  • Watercolour
  • A double-sided button

Got all the items? Now follow the instructions in the video. Let your child’s imagination go wild by blending all the colours together!

#4 DIY Bowling

Your toddler won’t be able to pick up an actual bowling ball, but that doesn’t mean they can’t have their own fun. Make your own bowling pins using recycled bottles and use a small ball! It’s the perfect indoor game on a rainy day.

  3. Put the caps back on the bottle. Make sure they're secured!
  4. Shake the bottles hard so the paint spread throughout.
