It was announced by the university that the hospital that was attached to the medical faculty of the building, should have been using the water for flushing toilets, but the water pipe was incorrectly connected to the drinking water pipe. There were 120 taps with this error. This incident was caused by an error in connecting pipes when the hospital was constructed in 1993.
The hospital’s water quality inspection is conducted once a week to check on the quality, colour and odour and from the existing records, zero health hazards has been found.
Osaka University researcher and hospital's vice president Kazuhiko Nakatani issued an apology at a press conference recently. "I am very sorry that the university hospital that provides advanced medical care has caused anxiety," said Nakatani to a local Japanese publication. The hospital authorities have mentioned to a publication that they will check the piping and get the error rectified as soon as possible.
