“From this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do us part”, is a vow that 38-year-old Chen ZhenFeng took and is committed to, even after being separated from his wife.
Chen from China recently made headlines after he decided to remarry his ex-wife upon discovering that she'd been suffering from end-stage kidney failure. The 38-year-old from Henan decided to get back together with his ex-wife, 35-year-old Xie Hongxia, after finding out she was dealing with uremia - a buildup of toxins in your blood that occurs when the kidneys stop filtering toxins out through your urine.

Chen and Xia met as soon as Chen was discharged from the military. The two hit it off and got married just after a few months of dating each other. Not long after getting married, Xie had two miscarriages and the both of them were under great pressure. It was also said that the two quarrelled constantly over trivial matters that led the marriage to come to an end. Chen kept reflecting on their marriage after the divorce, so he sent a message to check up on his ex-wife, which led him to learn that she was suffering from uremia.
He then found out that she did not remarry and he proposed to reinstate their marriage but his proposal was rejected by Xie as she did not want to burden him with her medical bills. A very determined Chen however said that he would take care of her and would be there for her regardless of what happens. Xie eventually agreed to his proposal and the couple’s marriage was reinstated.
“I have to take responsibility and I will accompany my wife for the rest of my life,” Chen ZhenFeng said.
We truly hope that Xie will be able to overcome this great ordeal with her devoted husband by her side.
