Toby Emmerich, chairman of Warner Bros said that Margot would be the ideal producer and actress to give Barbie an on-screen life in a fresh and relevant way.
“Playing with Barbies promotes confidence, curiosity and communication throughout a child’s journey to self-discovery” Robbie said, adding that she felt honoured to be given a chance to play the role.
We can see from Robbie’s statement that the movie is going to be inspirational, as it will be focusing on the positive aspects of the doll.
She also added that for over 60 years, Barbie has empowered children to think of themselves in aspirational roles from everything from Princess, to President.
Did you know that Barbie has adopted over 200 careers in her lifespan, which includes robotics engineer, astronaut and teacher? She is the best-known children’s toy and a cultural icon who is still celebrated worldwide till this very day.
