Men Cannot Do The ‘Chair Challenge’ Because…

We finally know why!

We know you must have heard about this whole ‘chair challenge’ thing that became viral on TikTok and well, all over social media.

While half of the internet are having fun just experimenting with it, the other half are cracking their heads to figure out the science behind it.

Why is that only girls can do this challenge and men can’t? Hmm…

The psychological reason behind this is that the centre of gravity of men and women differ. Women generally have a lower centre of gravity as compared with men (although by just a few centimeters!).

According to scientist Professor Brian For of Cambridge University, there is more to it than just gravity…

Talking about the physics of fulcrum and load, he said that it can be because men have longer feet than women, so two paces back for a man would be some 60 cm but for a woman it’s  about 50cm.

So, men are further away from the wall and the leaning forward is also affected by this space in between.

Another theory on Twitter says that this is because women have wider pelvises. We’re not sure how  true this is, though.

But after all that's said and done, it doesn’t mean all men can’t do it. There are still a minority of guys who can pull it off even though they struggle a little.

Hmm, interesting. Now are you thinking what we’re thinking?

Test the men in your house!
