So many things are changing during this time of uncertainty but our need for entertainment still remains unbudgeted.

And we recently got the news that even the knight holding a crusader’s sword has decided to be less rigid in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic… because change is the only constant!

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has tweaked its Oscar eligibility rules, following a meeting with its board of governors.

Initially, a film needed a seven-day theatrical run to qualify for the Oscars but that is now no longer necessary. Digitally released films with no theatre appearance will be allowed to make it to the list this year, however, the streamed film must have a planned theatrical release after the pandemic is over.

Also, the film needs to be made available on the Academy Screening Room ‘member-only’ streaming site within 6o days of the film’s streaming of VOD release.

When the theatre re-opens, sources said that the number of qualifying theatres would be expanded.

The Academy added that the sound mixing and sound editing categories would be combined into one award, reducing the total number of categories to 23.

Korean film, Parasite won the best movie in the previous Oscars. Which movie should take the trophy this year, in your opinion?
