Little did this middle-aged man know that his desperation for a toilet would land him in jail for 7 weeks and disqualify him from driving for four years!

Hoo Tee Tuan drove past the speed limit to his brother’s coffee shop to answer an urgent nature’s call.

He pleaded guilty for rash driving and also not stopping for a police car. The incident that happened on March 3, 2019 saw Hoo speeding, running two red lights and driving against traffic towards Boon Lay Way while making a turn from Jurong East Street 31. He also hit 180kmh at one point while being chased by the traffic police.

The 57 year-old’s lawyer said that his client had been suffering from irritable bowel syndrome and that he had already soiled his pants when the police made him pull over. He also tried to explain that Hoo wasn’t racing, he was just desperately looking for a toilet.

The Deputy Public Prosecutor (DPP)  argued that it wasn’t a justifiable reasoning and that Hoo put other road users in danger. “He could have stopped along the road once he exited the highway,” the DPP said.

So does that mean he had an option of releasing his number 2 by the road? Was that what the DPP meant? We’d never know.

Hoo knew his condition for about a year and he had learnt his lesson. But still, he was sentenced to jail. The middle-aged man is now out on bail. He will start his jail sentence on Jan 27, 2021.

Aah, tough luck, man! We don’t know what to feel. Who’s side are you on?
