Today’s another reminder that words have the power to either build or break when new-mum Kylie Jenner published a tweet that caused Snapchat’s share price to plummet by 7%.

The percentage may not seem like a lot, but when it comes to share price, 7% is a huge number because that roughly equates to a whopping RM5.8 billion (approximately US$1.5 billion)!

We’re dizzy just thinking about the number of zeros in that figure.
A single negative tweet by Jenner asking her followers “sooo does anyone else not open Snapchat anymore? Or is it just me…ugh this is so sad” was all it took to damage the company’s value despite managing to maintain its share price even while its users have been complaining about an update that changed the app’s layout for weeks.
The reality star later followed up her first tweet with another, saying that she still loves Snapchat, and that the app is her first love. But, damage once done, is hard to reverse.
Oh, and for those who hate the new changes to Snapchat, Chief Executive Evan Spiegel has this to say: "It'll take time for people to adjust, but for me, using it for a couple months, I feel way more attached to the service." Basically, like it or not, it’s here to stay.
