Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Datuk Seri Dr. Mujahid Yusof Rawa said that the aim of the gathering is to showcase to the world that Malaysians reject the culture of fanning hatred to counter hatred and that peace should always prevail.
"It will be a gathering to defend peace and to reject and fight hatred," he said.

The gathering is currently planned to be held at Dataran Merdeka at 7.30am this Saturday, provided the Kuala Lumpur City Council, (DBKL) grants a permit, despite the short notice.
An alternative option of venue would be at Dataran Merbok.
There are plans along the pipeline to hold more programmes that promote peace initiatives.
After all, isn't promoting peace the best way to counter extremism?
