Over seven billion people in the world, numerous possibilities and circumstances and yet, these lovebirds found their way to each other again after 50 years!

An American army veteran recently went public in his search for his long-lost lover from Thailand and much to his surprise, they got in touch with each other with the help of the internet.

The first story is believed to have appeared on December 15, explaining his quest to find the woman he fell in love with way back during the Vietnam War.

William Bruce, a former wartime doctor shared his story of how he met the woman who went by the nickname “Mai” in 1969. They crossed paths at a hotel where she worked as a tour guide.

During the two happy weeks they spent together visiting the city’s temples, taking elephant rides and creating many more memories, he managed to take many photos of her, which he eventually shared in his story, that quickly went viral.

Bruce wanted to marry her but he was advised against it by his peers and superior due to cultural differences.

After Bruce was forced to return for duty at a border medical facility in Laos, they never met again. They eventually went separate ways and built themselves a family of their own.

But what a small world! The article got the attention of the woman’s niece, who spotted similarities between the photos Bruce shared in the article and the ones she’d seen in her grandmother’s house.

Later we learnt that the lady actually went by the name “Tim” and not “Mai”. Pacharee Tim Kaewsorn was actually a teacher who’d been working as a tour guide on the side. She now lives in the U.S state of Florida!

Upon sharing the information with her aunt in Florida, Chaigit Tarnia Wilke, Tim’s niece said that her aunt still remembered Bruce and all the good times they shared.

Soon after, they managed to have a “somewhat emotional” conversation and have made plans to meet up once the pandemic is over.

Bruce said that it was truly a miracle and that they’re now trying to process all the events of life that passed during that 5 decades!

We’re so happy to read this story and we’re glad that Bruce found his once-upon-a-time soulmate despite getting her name wrong!

The internet is a powerful place indeed. Thank you, Chaigit.
