We’re getting excited for October! Sure, there won’t be as many three-day weekends but there are awesome shows premiering this month.
There are two which we’re especially hyped about: The Walking Dead (season 10) and the brand-new Watchmen series!
The Walking Dead is back for its 10th season and things are getting more complicated as the survivors of a zombie apocalypse continue their struggle to fight against zombies—while also protecting themselves from each other.
Here’s what to expect from The Walking Dead Season 10:
#1 Most major characters are staying, but some are leaving

Fans will be relieved to hear that the series’ regular stars are staying, including Norman Reedus, Melissa McBride, Jeffrey Dean Morgan and King Ezekiel.

But they’ll have to say good-bye to Andrew Lincoln, and once this season ends, Danai Gurira as well. Meanwhile, it’s still up in the air whether Lauren Cohen will be coming back. She left the show to star in a new sitcom, Whiskey Cavalier. But since that has been cancelled, she could be free to potentially come back. We’ll just have to see how it goes!
#2 There’s a time jump

Showrunner Angela Kang confirmed that season 10 will fast forward a few months into the future. For example, Rosita’s definitely not pregnant anymore. The characters have been living with the Whisperers’ rules, and dealing with the trauma at the end of last season.
#3 There might be a new community

Did you know that The Walking Dead comics are over? So the show is currently experimenting with storylines. Last season, we were left wondering who was trying to talk to Eugene over the radio. It’s very likely that a new community is trying to reach out to them—which means even more new characters and challenges.
#4 Speaking of new characters…

David Shae will come in as Dante, a rogue-ish, charming character who was Maggie’s love interest in the comics.

A new Whisperer named Gamma will be introduced, played by Thora Birch. Another new face is Kevin Carroll, who recently starred in The Leftovers. He’ll be playing a ‘smart’ survivor named Virgil.
#5 Negan is free and will fight against the Whisperers

After being locked in a cell for a whole season, Negan will be helping out in the war against the Whisperers. However, that doesn’t mean he’s about to be a good guy. Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who plays him, has hinted that while there could be changes, he’s still himself when holding a weapon.
The Walking Dead (Season 10) premieres on FOX and FOX HD this 7 October, Mondays at 11.30am (repeats at 9pm) on the same day as the US! Missed an episode? Catch up via demand through connected PVR or Astro GO. Get more info at www.watchod.com.
Another show we’re looking forward to is the HBO production of Watchmen. You’ve probably heard of its DC comics counterpart by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons, which was also produced into a movie directed by Zack Snyder.
This time around, the show will be different than the movie and comics. Here’s what awaits us:
#1 A star-studded cast

Watchmen’s cast list is impressive. Oscar and Golden Globe-winner Regina King leads the show as the superheroine Angela Abar. Meanwhile Jeremy Irons (you would recognise him as Alfred in Zack Snyder’s Justice League) will play the villain Andrian Veidt.

Other actors include Don Johnson, Tim Blake Nelson, Tom Mison, Sara Vickers, Louis Gossett Jr and Yahya Abdul-Mateen.
#2 There isn’t a lot revealed about the plot, but the teaser trailer helps us figure some things out
The series takes place decades after the events of Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons’ 1986 comics of the same title. King, Johnson and Nelson are members of a Tulsa Oklahoma police department, which mysteriously masks their officers to fight against the growing threat of a ‘vast and insidious conspiracy’.
Judging from the focus on law enforcement and vigilante justice, it looks like this version is going to feel more updated. And knowing HBO, the series won’t be shying away from controversial issues.
#3 Lost’s co-creator Damon Lindelof is the showrunner

Lindelof co-created the highly successful Lost with JJ Abrams. He’s also worked on The Leftovers, Star Trek Into The Darkness and Prometheus.
Joining him to direct the first episode is Nicole Kassell, who worked on shows such as The Killing, Vinyl and The Americans.
Watchmen premieres on HBO and HBO HD this October 21, Mondays at 9am with repeats at 10pm on the same day as the US! If you missed an episode, catch up on demand via connected PVR or Astro GO.
