A wise person once said that if you love something, love it completely, and that’s what inspired this Psychology graduate to do what she does, day in and day out.
Teacher Sinthu Krishna is a Special Needs Therapist, or more commonly known as a Shadow Teacher at an International School. Her love for children has inspired her to learn more about their behavior and to work with them on a daily basis.

When she was about 15 years old, she realized she loved children for their innocence and for the ways they always love others unconditionally. According to her, there are indeed many things that we, as adults, can learn from kids.
Little did she know her views and knowledge on educating children would expand to greater heights upon entering her first job at an Autism Centre, where she discovered children (especially the ones with special needs) can not only teach her how to love unconditionally, but also teach her how to understand their love when they can’t verbally say it.
The 2 years of working together with specially abled children changed her life as a teacher. Every positive feedback from their parents still makes her tear up a little.
“We all know that it’s not easy to deal with children who find it hard to express themselves. There’s a lot that they’re fighting inside so even a sudden, random ‘good morning’ means a lot to me because it tells me that I have a made a difference in their thought processes”
She smiled as she recalled the day her student who hated Math came up to her one-day and said “Math isn’t so bad. It’s easy!”
These positive changes made her want to explore more on this field, thus she decided to volunteer in orphanages and shelter homes, where she teaches the abused, abandoned or neglected children and learn something new every day.
Of course it’s not always rainbows and sunshine. On difficult days, what keeps her going is the parents’ hope and trust on her. She said that the parents would text and tell her every time their child does something out of their routine and that brings a lot of joy to her heart.
Thank you for inspiring and bringing hope to the hearts of children in the ways you can, Teacher Sinthu! Continue teaching them passionately and bring out the potential in them, one at a time.
We’re sure there are many other teachers like her out there, and we’d like to tell you that you’re all the gems that make the world a much better place!
Happy Teacher’s Day!
