Chris Hemsworth and Russell Crowe were among the first to pay their tribute on social media with their heartfelt messages to the victims and their families.

Mark Ruffalo, John Legend and many other celebrities also paid tribute and raised awareness on the serious matter.

Guy Oseary, the manager for Madonna and the band U2, started a GoFundMe page for the New Zealand terror attack victims and pledged RM73,411 ($18,000). Other celebrities have helped out and donated to the fund too.

Madonna donated RM40,784 ($10,000) to the fund, followed by comedian Chris Rock (RM20,392), Ben Stiller (RM4078) and Ashton Kutcher (RM4078).

"I read the frightening details and could barely find the strength to watch a short clip of the disturbing footage. My heart breaks for the victims and for their families," said, Oseary in the GoFundMe page.

The fundraiser has raised RM365,653 at the time of writing and the funds will be “transferred to an organisation providing support to the families and community.”
