If you’re familiar with the tale of Aladdin, you’d remember that the main character finds a “magic lamp” with a genie in it, who would go on to grant him three wishes.
Of course, Aladdin is just a story, but it became all too real for this doctor in India for a brief moment, before he found out he was scammed!

Dr Laeek Khan, who had just got back to India from London, was cheated by two men who claimed to be “sorcerers” and sold him a “magic lamp” for a whopping US$93,000 (RM386,000)!

The men even conjured up a fake genie, promising the good doctor it will fulfill all his wishes without the much-needed hard work, and that it will make him a billionaire.
Khan told police the men would often make him see a “jinn” appearing from the lamp, but every time he asked if he could take the lamp home, they’d refuse, saying it might cause him harm.
It’s understood that Khan had met these “sorcerers” in 2018, after performing surgery on a woman, who he then visited for numerous follow-ups.
The two men eventually began telling him about this genie, who had even “visited their home”, and on one occasion, Khan had apparently seen the genie, but it turned out to be just one of the men in disguise!
The two men have been arrested, but authorities are still looking for the woman, who turns out is actually the wife of one of the men, and a suspect in the case.
We know this story seems like a whole lot of mumbo-jumbo, but it seems that the world only continues to surprise us!
