Funazushi is a sushi delicacy in Japan, which takes three years to make.

Yes, THREE YEARS. It’s basically fermented sushi made from a type of Japanese carp. It’s caught, packed in wooden barrels of salt for a year, and then taken out and mixed with rice to be left for another two or three years to achieve the ultimate fermentation.

We have a few masks on at this moment, because we can already smell how pungent it is, while writing this.

But anything is possible in this time and age. So, here it comes… the creative people, who are now turning this delicacy into an ice-cream flavor!

The world’s stinkiest sushi ice-cream is served in a franchise in Japan but surprisingly, people who have tried it say that it doesn’t stink that much. They added that the supposed to be pungent smell of fermented fish is almost unnoticeable due to the ice-cream’s sweet scent.

Some even compared it to Mascarpone cheese!

It’s sold for 400 yen and we’re not sure when we’ll be allowed to travel there to try it out for ourselves just yet, but we're excited to try it out!

The question is, would you want to try it?
