It’s been almost 30 years since Adam Sandler’s Happy Gilmore became a beloved cult classic. Well, fellow millennials, get ready—because the iconic character is making a comeback in the Netflix sequel, Happy Gilmore 2.

Fans got a special holiday treat on Christmas Day with the release of the teaser trailer, packed with nostalgia. Sandler returns as Happy, donning his iconic hockey jersey and stepping up to the golf course as if no time has passed.
But Sandler isn’t the only exciting addition to the sequel. Kansas City Chiefs tight end and Taylor Swift’s boyfriend, Travis Kelce, makes his acting debut in the film. Kelce kicks off the teaser with the first speaking lines, quickly grabbing attention. Later in the clip, dressed as a member of the golf club, he welcomes Happy back with the line, “It’s good to have you back, Mr. Gilmore.”

The sequel also boasts an impressive cast of newcomers, including Grammy winner Bad Bunny, The Substance star Margaret Qualley, Sandler collaborator Nick Swardson, rapper Kid Cudi (Scott Mescudi), and Benny Safdie, who starred with Sandler in Uncut Gems.
While details about Eminem’s role are still under wraps, Sandler teased that the rapper, a longtime friend, gave an unforgettable performance during a one-day shoot.
The excitement for Happy Gilmore 2 has been building since May when Netflix confirmed the project, following hints from Christopher McDonald, who played the smarmy Shooter McGavin, in a March 2024 interview.
Sandler co-wrote the film with Tim Herlihy, just like they did with the original 1996 movie.
