While most of us found solace in indulging in social media and developing new habits, some people were really focused in giving back to the community in the ways they can during the MCO.

This teenager who returned to Malaysia from University of Michigan during the MCO is one such example. Natalie Chan, was surprised by the overwhelming support she got from a three-day virtual yoga event for a society that helps abused women.

As we may already know, people are in need of economic help and the undergraduate in biomedical engineering thought that a fundraiser would be a good idea to provide the help they needed.

Joining her was her own yoga instructor, Abbie Chong, who started working hand in hand with Natalie to promote and execute their plan.

With poster designs and promotions on social media as well a Facebook group for the event, it was up and running from June 5 to June 7.

She was indeed surprised by the support that they received. Well, thanks to those who spend their time scrolling!

If you’re wondering whether this virtual yoga is happening anytime soon, the answer is no, unfortunately. Natalie said that she’s got to focus on her studies as she hopes to return to the US in August to begin her sophomore year.

Thank you, Natalie! We are so proud of you and every other people who are giving back to the society in the ways the can.

Also, we’d like to remind that you’re not alone in this. If you are experiencing domestic violence or know someone who is, do not hesitate to reach to someone you trust.
