Bonnie Wright, who famously portrayed Ginny Weasley in the Harry Potter films, recently revealed in an exclusive interview with PEOPLE that the original cast has a “very heavily populated” group chat that keeps them connected. The actress shared this tidbit during her visit to Harry Potter and the Cursed Child on Broadway on April 30.

Wright, now 34, confirmed the existence of the WhatsApp group chat while attending a performance of the Broadway show. "There is a group WhatsApp, people," she teased with a smile. "That's all I can say. There is one, yes." Though she didn’t disclose specific names, she hinted that several Harry Potter stars, including Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint, are part of the chat.
While Wright didn’t go into further detail, Tom Felton, who played Draco Malfoy in the films, had previously mentioned being active in a group chat with former co-stars. In addition to the group chat, Wright also stays in touch with several cast members, although it’s challenging now that they are scattered across the globe.
"I see James and Oliver Phelps, who played my twin brothers, a lot," she shared. "I also met up with Katie Leung (Cho Chang) and Afshan Azad-Kazi (Padma Patil) recently." She also mentioned plans to reach out to Rupert Grint, who recently welcomed his second daughter. "I need to officially congratulate him," Wright said.

Wright’s presence at Harry Potter and the Cursed Child took her back to her Harry Potter roots, bringing fond memories of playing Ginny Weasley on set. "I love how they've imagined it for a play," she said. "Theater has its own kind of magic." While it’s been over a decade since Wright played Ginny, she finds herself regularly reflecting on her time in the Harry Potter franchise. “I’ll just have memories, like fragments,” she said. “It’s fun to reminisce when we do things together.”
As Harry Potter fans continue to celebrate the magic of the franchise, Wright remains deeply connected to her co-stars, offering a glimpse into the enduring bond they share beyond the screen.
