Chad Michael Murray is ready to cheer his kids on if they decide to pursue acting.
The One Tree Hill star, 43, recently spoke with Interview Magazine about whether he would encourage his three children—his 9-year-old son, 6-year-old daughter, and infant daughter born in August 2023 with his wife, actress Sarah Roemer—to follow his path in Hollywood.
"I’m 99.99999% sure my daughter will follow suit quite soon," Murray shared, referring to his older daughter. "As for my son, acting isn’t something he’s interested in. And the baby, well, she’s only 15 months—we’ll let her decide in time," he added with a laugh. "But would I be supportive? Absolutely, one hundred percent."
The actor reflected on his own early days in Hollywood, expressing how much he would have appreciated a mentor to guide him through the challenges of the industry.
"I wish I had a kindred spirit over my shoulder to guide me and help me when I first came in," Murray said. "It’s not about saying no to my daughter; it’s about preparing her. I want to pave the road and say, ‘Here are the consequences of action A, B, C, and D. This is how to conduct yourself on set. I want you to be so prepared that nothing can throw you off.’"
Murray, who has embraced fatherhood fully, also shared insights into his family life in a November interview with Variety. He affectionately calls his family of five "The Pack," explaining that they travel together for every project he takes on.
“I want to be present,” he said. "I got to witness my daughter’s first steps. I took her trick-or-treating for the first time—and she nailed it!"
The actor relocated his family to Halifax, Nova Scotia, for the filming of Sullivan’s Crossing, immersing himself in the city and its community. He also balances his work with family commitments, including coaching his son’s football team, which was heading to the playoffs at the time.
For Murray, blending his career and family life is a priority, and his unwavering support for his children, whether in acting or other pursuits, is at the heart of his parenting approach.
