Where there’s a will, there’s always a way. If there’s one thing the pandemic has taught us, it is that we can actually have a memorable wedding with the ones that really matter.
In this period of social distancing, a couple in India probably didn’t want to risk coming in close contact with anyone… so, they decided to get married in the ocean, 60ft under!

V. Chinnadurai, a licensed scuba diver and his wife S Swetha donned traditional attire, and did all the traditional ceremony as per instructions from the priest, just underwater. There were eight other divers with them. After a few not-quite-dry runs, Swetha was confident enough to go to the bottom of the sea and she even added that it was “an experience of a lifetime”. Of course it is.
The newlyweds who are both software engineers said that they were trying to get married since last week but had to depend on the ocean currents.

The ceremony was filmed underwater and the couple continued the other marriage rituals after coming out of the water, with their families present.
The organizers said that they had to ask the bride and groom to leave their wedding date blank on the invitation as they had to wait for the sea to be calm enough for a dive. It was only filled in on the day of the wedding. Takes “embracing uncertainties” on a whole new level doesn’t it?!
