Scout Willis couldn’t be prouder of her mom, Demi Moore, as the acclaimed actress continues her triumphant award season run.
Speaking exclusively to E! News at Cure Addiction Now’s inaugural fundraiser, Scout—Demi’s 33-year-old daughter with ex-husband Bruce Willis—gushed about the long-overdue recognition her mother is finally receiving for The Substance.
“I am beyond excited, I’m beyond proud of her,” Scout shared. “It’s all the recognition I could ever hope for—a career and a lifetime of pushing culture forward in profound ways that I think she wasn’t always recognized for.”
And to Scout, her mom’s talent goes far beyond the awards stage.
“My mom is one of the smartest, wisest people I’ve ever met in my life,” she added.
Demi, 62, has already won both a Golden Globe and a SAG Award for her performance in The Substance, and she’s now nominated for her first Oscar. She’s competing for Best Actress against Mikey Madison (Anora), Cynthia Erivo (Wicked), Karla Sofía Gascón (Emilia Pérez), and Fernanda Torres (I’m Still Here) at the March 2 ceremony.
For Scout, seeing her mother’s name called as a winner has been nothing short of exhilarating.
“I think I wonder what it’ll feel like, and then when it actually hits—for me, it’s beyond anything I could possibly imagine,” she explained. “It’s just like a rush of thrill throughout my whole body.”
Demi herself has embraced the validation that comes with this season’s accolades. During her Golden Globes acceptance speech on January 5, she reflected on the doubts she faced earlier in her career.
“Thirty years ago, I had a producer tell me that I was a popcorn actress,” she revealed. “At that time, I made that mean that this wasn’t something that I was allowed to have—that I could do movies that were successful, that made a lot of money, but that couldn’t be acknowledged. And I bought in, and I believed that.”
The label weighed on her for years, making her question if she had already reached the peak of her career. But The Substance proved otherwise.
“At a low point, I had this magical, bold, courageous, out-of-the-box, absolutely bonkers script come across my desk,” she continued. “And the universe told me, ‘You’re not done.’”
Now, with an Oscar nomination under her belt and her daughters cheering her on, Demi Moore’s Hollywood legacy is shining brighter than ever.
