Drew Barrymore is getting candid about a past cosmetic procedure. During a recent episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, the 50-year-old actress reflected on the breast reduction surgery she underwent at just 17 while discussing breast cancer screenings with OBGYN Dr. Kameelah Phillips.

“What if someone’s had a reduction like me?” Drew asked. “Or implants and enhancements? How does that affect screenings?”

Dr. Phillips emphasized the importance of additional imaging beyond mammograms for those with cosmetic breast procedures. Drew agreed, sharing, “I always get a mammogram and an ultrasound—both, always.” She acknowledged her privilege in having access to such care.

This isn’t the first time Drew has spoken about her decision to undergo breast reduction. In a 1998 interview, she explained how the procedure improved her comfort and confidence.

"I really love my body the way it is now," she told New York Daily News. "When your breasts are too big, you become self-conscious. Your back hurts. No matter what you wear, you feel heavy—it’s uncomfortable.”

Despite undergoing surgery as a teen, Drew has been open about her hesitation toward other cosmetic procedures. In a 2023 interview with People, she said, “I haven't done anything, and I'm going to maintain that as long as possible.”

While she holds no judgment toward those who opt for plastic surgery, she joked, “I look forward to seeing what I look like as a leather bag in the future!”
