Let’s be real — The Parent Trap just wouldn’t be The Parent Trap without a little Meredith Blake chaos. Elaine Hendrix, the actress who made high-maintenance villainy iconic in Disney’s 1998 reboot, says she’s all in for a sequel — but only if her fabulous, scheming alter ego is invited back.

“There are always rumors,” Hendrix told Entertainment Weekly when asked about whispers of a follow-up film. “I don’t know where they come from. I think it’s mostly fans who would love to see that.” And let’s be honest — who among us wouldn’t?
Hendrix played opposite Lindsay Lohan, who took on dual roles as long-lost twins Hallie and Annie. Together, the girls schemed to sabotage their father’s (Dennis Quaid) engagement to Meredith, giving us one of the most quotable ‘90s villains in Disney history. (“You rang?” still hits.)
While Hendrix admits no official sequel talks are happening at Disney just yet, she’s game to bring Meredith back — somehow. “I’d be so crushed if she wasn’t part of a sequel,” she said. “Hands down, in the right situation, I’d be there.”

Of course, the logistics of reinserting Meredith into the family-friendly fun may be tricky. After all, she was last seen getting dumped at a fancy camping site by Nick Parker and thoroughly outmaneuvered by two 11-year-olds. But if anyone could rise from the ashes of public humiliation in a tailored power suit and stilettos, it’s Meredith Blake.
“I mean, how would you bring her back into the sequel?” Hendrix asked, clearly pondering the possibilities. Maybe she’s rebranded as a glamorous life coach? Maybe she’s now an Instagram-famous real estate mogul? We’re just spitballing here, Disney.
Fans of Hendrix and Lohan can catch the pair together again soon in Freakier Friday, the highly anticipated sequel to Freaky Friday, which also stars Jamie Lee Curtis. Hendrix makes a cameo in the film and says the reunion with Lohan felt especially meaningful.
“She lives on the other side of the world now and has a family and is busy,” Hendrix said. “We both have full lives, but through social media and texting, we’re staying in touch, which is quite lovely.”

While the two didn’t stay in contact after The Parent Trap — Hendrix was a grown-up, Lohan was a kid — they’ve reconnected in this new chapter of life, and Hendrix is clearly rooting for her former co-star.
“I’m so happy for her and where she is in her life,” she said.
And as for sequels? Hendrix kept it real: “Clearly there are so many sequels that should have never been made, and I’m not going to name names or titles,” she said with a wink. “But our Parent Trap was a reboot — and definitely should’ve been made.”
We second that. And if Disney’s listening: we’d pay good money to see Meredith Blake back in action — lizards, high heels, and all.
Freakier Friday hits theaters August 8. Fingers crossed Meredith crashes the party.
