Green Day is soaking in the spotlight — and cooling off with their own Slurpee. The iconic punk rock trio was all smiles at a May 2 launch party in Hollywood for their limited-edition 7-Eleven Slurpee flavor, Kerplunk Kandy Grape, named in honor of their 1991 album Kerplunk. The celebration followed a major milestone for the band: receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame the day prior.

Speaking exclusively with PEOPLE, frontman Billie Joe Armstrong, 53, said the moment still felt surreal. “It’s like a fever dream,” he shared. “I never imagined we’d have a star. I’m tempted to walk back over there just to make sure it’s real.”
Bassist Mike Dirnt, 52, echoed the sentiment, adding, “I took a two-hour nap after the ceremony — I was so overwhelmed. It’s an emotional moment. And it’s really special for our fans. Now they have a place to come and see something that reflects their love for Green Day.”

The band — rounded out by drummer Tré Cool — was honored with the 2,810th star on the Walk of Fame, located at 6212 Hollywood Boulevard, right next to Amoeba Music. The ceremony was emceed by music personality Matt Pinfield and featured appearances by longtime producer Rob Cavallo, Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds (who delivered a speech), and Flavor Flav.
Just one day later, the band leaned into the fun with the debut of their Kerplunk Kandy Grape Slurpee.
From punk roots to pop culture icons, Green Day is clearly having a moment — and sharing the celebration with the fans who’ve fueled their decades-long career.
