The year of the wood snake is here and you know what that means… balik kampung for the next holiday season!

Unfortunately, planning to travel home during CNY often means getting caught in traffic jams. BUT, with careful planning, the journey can be much more manageable.

4 Things To Do Before You Drive Home For CNY

#1 Check for a comfy and safe drive!

Making sure your drive home is both safe and comfortable is a good way to start any road trip.

Before you get on the road for a long drive home, be sure to do these quick checks:

  • Aircond: Make sure it isn’t leaking and the vents are working fine
  • Tyres: Check your tyre tread—looking for any signs of ‘baldness’—and pressure
  • Brake: When your engine is off, step on the brake pedal—it should feel firm. When driving, your car should stop immediately when the brake is engaged and not pull to one side.

If you’re not sure what to look out for, a quick stop at the service centre will do the trick!

🚗 Did you know that the Honda HR-V comes with Honda SENSING, a set of built-in safety features?

It includes a brake system to prevent collision, keeps you from unintentionally leaving your lane, maintains a safe distance between you and the car in front and more!

#2 Be on top of traffic!

Besides safety, you’ll also want to make sure that you beat traffic, one way or another.

When deciding on a travel date or time, refer to traffic-tracking apps such as PLUS, Google Maps or Waze to avoid the crowd (or maybe lessen it).

Look out for traffic updates in the news as well for recommended travelling time.

🚗 Did you know that the Honda HR-V comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto Connectivity?

This means you can mirror your smartphone's interface on your vehicle's infotainment system. With it, you’ll be able to use your phone's apps during your drive, on a bigger screen, and handsfree!

#3 Choose scenic routes!

If you’ve got time on your hands, do some homework on Google Maps and look for a scenic route to make your drive less boring. Or make an R&R food trip out of it—there are many recommendations on social media.

Since you’ll be on the road for hours anyway, might as well enjoy the views and feel your whole main character vibe.

🚗 Did you know that the Honda HR-V has a powerful 1.5L VTEC Turbocharged Engine?

The Honda HR-V doesn’t just look sporty—it feels like it too. It gives you a smooth and exhilarating drive, even on winding trunk roads! The engine's performance ensures you can explore new, scenic routes with confidence and ease, making the journey just as enjoyable as the destination.

#4 Don’t forget the munchies!

No drive is complete without some snacks and bites for the road, especially when you’ve got kids in the car.

Some food options that are easy to eat and leave close-to-no-mess behind include veggie sticks, grapes, cheese slices, nuts, and bite-sized cookies.

🚗 Did you know that the Honda HR-V is fitted with Multi-Utility Seats?

It offers versatile seating arrangements, ensuring comfort for your passengers AND ample space for your bags and snacks. Depending on the items you need to carry, you can lower or recline seats to fit bulky, long and even tall items!

A long drive is tiring enough—you shouldn’t need to worry about whether your things will fit in the car too.
