Despite a comedic cast featuring Jack Black, Paul Rudd, and Steve Zahn, the upcoming Anaconda reboot isn’t just for laughs—according to Black, it packs real scares.

"It's a lot funnier than the original," Black told Entertainment Weekly during a chat with Minecraft co-star Jason Momoa. "But it still has those scary moments. It's a horror film for real, but it's also got some clownin' for sure."
The original Anaconda (1997), starring Jennifer Lopez, Ice Cube, and Jon Voight, became a cult classic, spawning multiple sequels. This new version, directed by Tom Gormican (The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent), isn’t a direct remake. Instead, it follows a group of middle-aged friends attempting to shoot their own version of the film—only for things to take a dark turn.

While early promos lean into comedy, Black insists audiences are in for a wild ride. "It's gonna be a big f---in' snake, and it's gonna rip!" he teased in a video alongside Rudd.
The film also stars Thandiwe Newton, Selton Mello, and Daniela Melchior.
