Kristin Chenoweth says she has an idea for a Broadway reunion with her original Wicked co-star Idina Menzel. “I have one in mind, but I can’t say,” she told People at the opening of Stephen Sondheim’s Old Friends on Broadway.

The two recently reunited onscreen in Wicked: Part One, the upcoming film adaptation starring Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande. In a new “Wiz-O-Mania” sequence, written specifically for them by director Jon M. Chu and composer Stephen Schwartz, Chenoweth and Menzel play legendary enchantresses of Oz.
Schwartz crafted the scene as a tribute, even giving them a musical feature. But the pair requested one tweak — the script’s original description of them. “It didn’t say ‘old and decrepit,’ but it was something like that,” Chenoweth said. Menzel added, “Can’t we just be beautiful fairy goddesses?” The wording was promptly updated.

Chu also hinted at more cameos in Wicked: Part Two – For Good, out November 21. “There’s a lot of past Glindas and Elphabas,” he teased.
Wicked premiered on Broadway in 2003 and earned 10 Tony nominations, with Menzel winning Best Actress.
