Lea Michele is officially over the internet’s wildest rumor—and this time, she brought proof. The Glee alum finally clapped back (again) at the long-running joke that she can’t read during a hilarious appearance on Jake Shane’s Therapuss podcast. How? By doing the most obvious thing: reading.

During the May 8 episode, Lea grabbed a stack of notecards for the show’s “Tell Me What’s Wrong” segment and read them out loud—flawlessly. “I placed first in my debate competition and qualified for nationals,” she read with zero hesitation, before joking to Jake, “What does this word say?” just to poke fun at the whole thing.
But for Lea, it’s not always a laughing matter. “Sometimes I think it's crazy that people care enough about me that they would make up something,” she said. “And then there are moments where I f--king get so frustrated by it because I'm one of the only women in my whole family to get accepted to college.”
Lea went on to explain how much her education meant to her family, especially coming from humble roots in the Bronx. “My parents moved me from the Bronx to New Jersey to get a good education and to thrive. And I did. My family is so proud of that.”
And let’s not forget—this woman was literally a debate champ. “I placed first at a debate competition and qualified for nationals,” she said again. “Like, Bergen County champion debater over here. For everyone who thinks that I can’t f--king read—I was on the debate team. Like, I would write speeches.”
Case closed. Internet, please find a new conspiracy.
