We’re just gonna say it right from the get-go that life in the 21st century is awesome! What’s not to like about high-speed Internet, powerful mobile technologies, and the possibility of living in Mars, right?
But, surprise plot twist! We also secretly think that the 21st century could use a few improvements because…
Everybody and their gardeners can reach you

Well, not literally everybody and their gardeners because not everybody can afford a gardener, but literally anybody with a phone and Internet connection can reach you via the 8,618 chat apps and social media platforms at any time of the day.
Want some privacy or alone time? Forget it, this isn’t the 1990s.
Everybody walks into you

As Malaysians, we’re not ashamed to say that we love malls. But, walking the hallways of our beloved mall is like flying straight into a field of asteroids. Nimble as we are, someone is bound to walk into us.
The reason for this? Everybody has their eyes glued to their smartphones. C’mon people, that video of the cat squeezing into a box can wait till you get home.
We have idiots like this guy

Meet Christian Burns, Instagram model – yes, Instagram models are a thing now – and recently-crowned most hated person on the Internet.
In a two-minute video recording at this year’s VidCon, Burns can be seen insulting a security guard saying ridiculous things such as “I have a lot more money than you” and “You’re not famous, you’re irrelevant, you’re ugly”. He has since apologised, after angry reactions from denizens of the Internet.

Good on you if you’ve made a name for yourself on the interwebs, but please don’t be like this guy.
We’re still dogged by advertisements

Remember the days of cable TV? The one that requires a fishbone antenna? Well, those days are gone, but not the ads. They’re still everywhere. Good thing we have the option to skip them on most entertainment platforms.
Nobody uses words anymore

Guess what! Hieroglyphs are back in style! It’s concerning enough that people have replaced actual talking with texting, they’ve also completely replaced actual words with emojis making every conversation a game of Break the Code.
Oh well, you know what they say, what goes out of fashion will eventually come back into fashion, so maybe we’ll start using our words again in the 22nd century. It’s a shame we won’t be around to see it… or will we?

Can we have a side of longevity with our trip to Mars, Elon Musk?
