Macaulay Culkin had no doubt that his younger brother, Kieran Culkin, would take home his first Academy Award at the 2025 Oscars.

Speaking to host Tan France on the red carpet at Vanity Fair's annual Oscars afterparty, Macaulay shared his reaction to Kieran winning Best Supporting Actor—and admitted he only tuned in for that part of the show.

"Did you watch any of the show tonight?" France asked Culkin and his fiancée, Brenda Song.

"Of course," Song responded.

"Just the Best Supporting Actor," Macaulay added. "That's the only thing I watched. True story, true story."

When asked if he reached out to Kieran after the win, Macaulay revealed, "I cried. And I was like, ‘I’m gonna see you later.’”

Song, standing by his side, wasn’t surprised by Kieran’s victory either. "Of course. Let’s be real. We’re allowed to say that."

Macaulay agreed, pointing out Kieran’s prime seating placement at the ceremony. "Yeah, absolutely. He was front row, aisle, closest to the stairs. There was no way he was not going to win."

Kieran won for his performance in Jesse Eisenberg’s A Real Pain, a dramedy exploring intergenerational trauma. The film follows two semi-estranged cousins, played by Kieran and Eisenberg, as they embark on a journey through Poland in memory of their late grandmother.

The win capped off a dominant awards season for Kieran, who previously claimed the Golden Globe, BAFTA, Independent Spirit Award, and SAG Award for the role.

During his Oscars acceptance speech, Kieran thanked Eisenberg and his wife, Jazz Charton—but also reminded Charton of a past agreement.

“About a year ago, I was on a stage like this, and I very stupidly, publicly, said that I want a third kid from her because she said if I won the award, she would give me the kid,” Kieran recalled, referencing his 2024 Emmys speech. “After the show, she goes, ‘Oh, God, I did say that. I guess I owe you a third kid.’ And I turned to her and I said, ‘Really? I want four.’ She said, ‘I will give you four when you win an Oscar.'”

Now, with an Oscar in hand, Kieran playfully called out his wife. "Jazz, love of my life, ye of little faith. No pressure. I love you."

Like his older brother, Kieran began his career as a child actor. His first role was in Home Alone (1990), playing Fuller, the Pepsi-loving cousin of Macaulay’s Kevin McCallister.

Now, decades later, the Culkin brothers share more than just childhood memories—they also share an emotional Oscars moment to remember.
