Road users in the Klang Valley are advised to avoid key routes from May 23 to 28 as road closures and traffic diversions will be implemented for the ASEAN Summit 2025.
Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) director Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri said 789 traffic police personnel will be on duty to manage traffic flow and escort VVIP motorcades during the summit.
“Our personnel will be fully mobilized, supported by 36 cars, 313 high-powered motorcycles, 190 standard motorcycles, and tow trucks. All assets are on standby,” he said during a press conference.
A dry-run of the traffic plan will be held on May 21 and 22.
Closures and Diversions
Closures will occur in stages from 8am to 8pm, affecting routes leading to:
- Kuala Lumpur city centre
- KLIA and Subang Air Force Base
- Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre
- Istana Negara
- Hotels hosting foreign delegates
“We urge the public to avoid affected roads, use public transportation, and comply with traffic police instructions,” said Comm Yusri.
Commercial Vehicle Restrictions & Towing
Commercial vehicles are prohibited from entering the city centre during peak hours—from 6:30am to 7:30am and 4:30pm to 7:30pm, effective May 19.
Comm Yusri also warned against illegal parking, saying vehicles causing obstructions will be towed immediately.
“We appreciate the public’s cooperation and hope the summit proceeds smoothly,” he said, adding that JSPT is coordinating with the JPJ, Works Ministry, and local authorities.
