Stories about mental health amplified during the pandemic… but in a good way, with more people opening up and being more vulnerable with their feelings.
While that’s good, there are still a number of people who just don’t know when and how to seek help, and with the stigma of “men don’t cry” / “men should be strong”, it makes things way harder for them to deal with what’s going on inside their heads.

A recent incident in India of a man trying to kill himself while going live on social media can be a good reminder there are people out there who are ready to help. DCP Anyesh Roy received a call from the Facebook office in the US about a certain live video at about 12:50 am, saying that a man from Delhi was trying to self-harm. The incident was reported to have happened after the man got into a fight with his neighbours.
The inspector explained that it looked like the man had locked himself inside a room and that they could hear his child asking him to open the door. After some time tracking his address, the police managed to get to his place and save his life in the nick of time.
When police arrived, it was 2 am and the man was found sitting on the stairs in a pool of blood. They rushed him to a nearby clinic and later brought him to a Trauma Centre as there was excessive blood loss.
Further investigation revealed that the man had been left depressed ever since his wife passed away in 2016. He lives with his mother and his two children aged 4 and 5.
We hope he comes out stronger and finds his way to brave through life.
