Michael B. Jordan is embracing the single life and staying focused on his career.
More than two years after his breakup with Lori Harvey, the Black Panther star shared an optimistic outlook on love, revealing that while he’s open to dating, his main priority remains his work.
“I’m not tripping over it... I’m so work focused,” he told GQ in an interview. “I would want somebody to fit into the flow of my life. And that’s timing, right? You can meet the right person at the wrong time, and it just doesn’t work out.”
The 38-year-old actor admitted that balancing his packed schedule with a relationship isn't easy, but when the time is right, he wants love to fit naturally into his life.
“I think the person that’s going to be right for me lines up with the timing, with who she is as a person, where I’m at in my life, how open I am,” he explained. Looking ahead to fatherhood one day, he added, “I’m competitive, and I know I would want to be the best dad. But right now, I’m trying to do my best at this part [of my life] as well.”
Michael’s words come after he previously hinted at no hard feelings between him and Lori, whom he dated from January 2020 to June 2022. In a Saturday Night Live monologue in January 2023, he joked, “Most people get in better shape after a breakup,” before pointing out that he was already in top form due to Creed III training.
And the mutual respect seems to extend to Lori’s family, too. Nine months after that SNL appearance, Michael was spotted having a friendly reunion with her stepfather, Steve Harvey, at the NBA Abu Dhabi Games.
Though he isn’t in a rush to settle down, Michael’s open to the right person coming along when the time is right. Until then, he’s focused on the next chapter of his career.
