Do you remember when having a “rehat” break was one of, if not the best moments, during our school years? 20 minutes can be quite a short time, especially when you have a lot of classmates in one school!
It was recently announced that schools now have the right to increase the standard recess time of 20 minutes to 30 minutes.

Deputy Education Minister, Teo Nie Ching was quoted by Chinese newspaper publication, Sin Chew Daily, on the time extension, following complaints by parents that the current recess break was inadequate for students.
It was brought to attention that some students would eat their meals while standing, and having to rush their meals because of the short recess time.
“Schools do not need to apply for permission from any agency. The ministry allows the schools to determine the time as the situation is different for each school,” she said.
