We have heard of many reasons to buy a house but this one’s definitely new and one of a kind. A couple of robbers in India bought a house for 90 lakhs (over RM37 million) to pull off a massive heist!

Dr Sumit Soni, a transplant doctor filed a robbery complaint on February 24, reporting that his boxes of 400kg silver buried in the ground of his house were missing. He had buried them and built a floor over with tiles, he added. Also, a long tunnel was found in his basement, which made him and the police suspicious.

Further investigation on the matter revealed that the robbers dug a 20-feet long tunnel, cut open 3 iron boxes and stole the silver ingots and jewellery worth millions of ringgit.

The police concluded that the information would have been passed by someone close to the doctor as there was no way of people knowing he had hidden jewellery beneath his floor. In an interesting twist, the house the robbers bought originally belonged to a Jaipur jeweller named Shekhar Agarwal, the mastermind who allegedly advised the doctor to invest in silver!

They found out later that the thieves were daily wage laborers in the doctor’s farmhouse, introduced by Shekhar and they have all been arrested from their native villages. So far, 8 people are under investigation.

Wow, we weren’t expecting this plot twist. Be careful who you listen to and who you share news with.
